Really? We can't see the enormous space ship coming for us? Oh, let us guess: they're cloaked. One Reason to be Skeptical of Infinite Space: Random Battles That's right. Does that mean anything scandalous for the DS game? Probably not, but here's hoping for some hot alien babes. Games like "Adult Video King." Nude Maker is helping out Platinum Games with development of Infinite Space.
Bonus Reason: Nude Maker What is Nude Maker? It's a Japanese developer responsible for a bunch of adult games. The varied orchestral tunes of Infinite Space fit the epic storyline perfectly. Composer Masafumi Takada Having written scores for games like Killer 7, No More Heroes, and God Hand, Takada-san is one of our favorite Japanese composers. Should he be a captain or a medic? We'll happily spend an entire day deciding. It's just like Spreadsheet Wars, the game of our dreams that no developer has the balls to make! Corporal Whifflebean over here has high leadership and medicine skills. Our hundreds of crewmates each have their own stats and abilities and we'll be spending hours comparing numbers and assigning everyone to a position where they will be most effective. Borderlands Reawakened Our Love of Number Crunching And Infinite Space is all about the number crunching. Famitsu's review of the game uses words like "overwhelming," "vast," and "staggering." "Every aspect of this game is deeper than I imagined," the review states. You are in control of an entire fleet of ships you have around 200 crew members at your command and many of them feature voice acting you can customize each ship to your liking the game follows two story threads of "very high-level, philosophical science fiction stuff," according to Platinum Games. If any game is going to do it, this one sounds like it could. But at this year's Tokyo Game Show, SEGA explained it is hoping to do just that with Infinite Space. Has any game taken it to its technical limits? Well, no developer has claimed to do so, that we know of. SEGA is Trying to "Max Out" the DS The Nintendo DS has been around for five years now. With its awesome 2D character art and intense 3D battles, this one's going to be a monster (and ridiculously hard). Props to SEGA and PlatinumGames for bringing Nude Maker's epic sci-fi game to the West (more on Nude Maker in a bit). This is the kind of super hardcore, grown-up DS game from Japan that publishers often withhold from the U.S market. YES NO We Want More Mature DS Games A mature-themed space opera wrapped inside a handheld Japanese role-playing game? And it's actually coming to the U.S.? We'll take it right now, please.
We still don't have a release date for this ambitious epic other than "spring," but here are five reasons why it's one of our most anticipated DS games of 2010: At this year's TGS we got our first look at the English version of the game but we've been teased enough - we want it now. Then Infinite Space went dark for a year until it was released in Japan in June of 2009 (to critical and commercial success). We got to take it for a spin for the first time at Tokyo Game Show that year and were impressed at how different and complex it was for a DS game. The game was actually introduced in the spring of 2008 as Infinite Line, part of a partnership between Platinum Games and publisher SEGA. It will be a bit of a departure for Platinum - while the developer is known for its intense action games, Infinite Space is a slower paced role-playing affair with turn-based battles. That's just one of the reasons we're excited for Infinite Space, the Nintendo DS space opera set for release next year.
This is a group of people that knows how to make great games. What do these two titles have in common? They were both developed by Platinum Games, the studio that rose from the ashes of Okami developer Clover. Bayonetta will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in just a couple weeks and it already received a perfect score from Famitsu in Japan.
